Here in Florida our legislature is in bed with the charter school companies and there's an on-going fight to prevent de-funding of public schools in favor of charters that have little to no accountability. Another example is the cherry-picking going on down the interstate in the NOLA RSD. Yes, there has been dramatic improvements in many schools there because the disruptive/worst-performing students have been segregated into the worst schools. That leaves the OTHER schools to look great by comparison. As usual the neediest, most disadvantaged, poor and minority kids are getting the short end of the stick.
